We are right in the midst of wildfire season here in Montana. Glacier National Park, protected and managed as a national park since 1910, is currently experiencing three fast-burning wildfires. Glacier is made up of more than 1 million protected acres within Montana and the United States - Canada border. Although fires in Glacier Park have historically been few and far between, nearly 13% of the park burned in 2003 and now in August of 2015, three separate forest fires are burning. The Reynolds Creek Fire that started in mid-July burned over 4,000 acres and officials did order evacuations for those living on the west side of St. Mary Lake, as well as the closure of the entire Going-To-The-Sun-Road. The historic Bering Creek Cabin has been lost to fire, as well as damage to other property and vehicles. This is a reminder of the importance of clearly labeling your structures (cabin) with signage that officials can read during emergency situations.

Mandatory evacuations were ordered in this situation and often are during wildfire season. Officials fighting the fires focus on structure protection and want you and your belongings to remain safe. Most cabins are located in remote areas, away from major civilizations, and in the mountains and trees. Fire officials often go door-to-door in evacuation situations or will drive through areas making an audible announcement. What if you are not there and your cabin and belongings inside of it are threatened?
Clearly label your cabin with signage to let officials know whom to contact. Here are some examples of the signs we make that clearly label your cabin. All signs are customizable, you can put your family's last name, phone number, address, or anything that you can think of on it.
